To better inform everyone of new upcoming titles in Games, please refer to these lists:

Xbox 360 Games: New Releases

Nintendo Wii Games: New Releases

PlayStation 3 Games: New Releases

PC Games: New Releases

Nintendo DS Games: New Releases

Sony PSP Games: New Releases

-------------
This is only North American release dates - no UK/PAL games are listed, as they sometimes have quite different release dates.

Enjoy!

I think it'd be great if something like this would be worked on all the "explore" pages. Don't know if that's conceivable and who'd manage the lists, but still...

yeah, i pitched an idea a while back for public list that anyone can add items to, or even have items added automatically (based on dates). I don't mind if my template gets used as a master list for 'new and upcoming releases' as i'm sure it will keep me busy come xmas season. lol

i picked february specifically as it's a dry time for new releases and allows me to start it up easier.

This is something you'll keep updating as games are released and new ones are announced?

Dang... that's quite the job, Prelude.

Most of the series lists are, come to think of it. I guess you're in for more than you bargain for when you sign up for these things. Which I've signed up for quite a few.

I'm hoping once its gets quite popular and then xmas season arrives, I can pass off some of these lists to others - or make these lists 'public access' and such

Any other suggestions? I was toying with idea of putting Gamespot links, demo links, and add developer, rating, and maybe even system requirements to each entry, but THAT would be too much. simply mainting these lists once a week won't be too tough.. only til xmas season hits.

if anyone wants to know where i'm getting these titles from, I use this as reference: http://www.gamespot.com/newthisweek.html?date=20080217&type=new_this_week&sort=rdate&dlx_type=all&sortdir=asc

All bottom of page, there is a VIEW ALL RELEASES but I concentrate only the major ones, and gamespot is nice enough to list each week's new releases in 'popularity' order, so as long as at least half the page is covered, we should be fine.

its a first-person shooter, set in alternate history in the US in the '50s. Basically, say US didnt go into WWII and the Nazis conquered all of Europe and most of Asia. And now the entire nazi force is launching a full blown attack with zepplins and bombers on NY and US mainland. very interesting concept.

update: a few more minor additions, and one big one -- Frontlines: Fuel of War on X360 & PC. Funny thing I just found out, the PS3 version was cancelled a couple weeks ago, after so many months of development, because of problems getting UnrealEngine3 to run on PS3 hardware.

PS3 is an overpriced pile of crap, IMHO. If you notice, not a single 'exclusive' title coming up anytime soon, and even major releases are bailing on them. It's just a $500 Blu-Ray player, that's all.

Spare a thought for the Europeans, apparently our PS3s aren't even back compatible for most of our old games. I can't believe Sony can get away with this. They really seem to hate their fans!

similar story on this side of the pond. they recently pulled the 60gb version off the markets here in canada, and the 80gb will be phased out too.

http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/subclass.asp?logon=&langid=EN&catid=24376
http://www.amazon.ca/PS3-60GB-Sony-PlayStation-3-60GB/dp/B0009VXAM0

as far as i understand it, the 40gb has ZERO ps2 support, the 80gb only has software emulation of PS2 titles, and only 80% of titles support it, while the 60gb had a separate hardware chip for full ps2 compatibility.

this site, shopbot.ca, shows only 1 place in canada that has the 60gb model, but click on the link and it shows as unavailable. lol

correction about that Frontlines cancellation. Shows that you can't believe everything you read on wikipedia. lol

http://kotaku.com/347317/ps3-delay-syndrome-hits-frontlines-fuel-of-war

this site claims the cancellation was a misunderstanding as stores pulled it off their sites, but apparently, the developer is claiming 'later in 2008' for the PS3 version. the problems with the unreal3 engine were correct though.

So i'll keep it on the PS3 list, just push it to the end and mark it as TBA 2008.

last update for now... i'll try to update just once a week. I'm up to early march releases, and after that, it gets sketchy and lack of amazon entries complicates things.

anyways, I have one more other uber-game added to Xbox 360 and PS3 sections --- 'Army of Two'

Updated.

Added several BIG games coming up later in 2008, such as the new splinter cell, brothers in arms, rainbow six vegas, and even Halo Wars. I figure if I get a jump start on the big hits that typically come out in oct-dec months, I should be able to keep up with this list easily.

In my defence, in wasnt until last week they finally announced a release date. Before, it used to be TBA, with not even 2008 confirmed. But now it looks like September '08 will be what they're shooting for.

there's a couple major titles i'm not adding, as their dates are still listed as TBA on Gamespot:

- Dragon Age from BioWare for the PC
- Alan Wake for PC and X360
- Resistance 2 for PS3
- Red Alert 3 for PC

The following I'll be adding real soon:
- Warhammer Online for PC
- Warhammer: Battle March for X360
- Battlefield: Bad Company (X360 and PS3)
- World Ends with You for DS
- Metal Gear Solid 4 for PS3 (though I won't be surprised if they announce an X360 version as well)
- Tom Clancy's EndWar (PC, X360, PS3)
- Mercenaries 2 (PC, X360, PS2, PS3)

and yes, I'm not living under a rock, I will be adding GTA IV very very soon. been busy last few days, just bought a new house so have to get my old one listed.

This thread is hugely appreciated Prelude! Keep up the good work. So many games i never knew were due for ages are on there, its made me think perhaps i need to start cracking on with the overtime at work! Kanes Wrath manages to come out bang on my payday! Although im not sure if it is a worldwide release date or not, i might have a bit more of a wait!! Heck i just noticed Duke Nukem is back! Bound to be a fun game hehe, haven't played that in years.
This deserves a more visible link to it aside from groups, it must take a bit of reading and hunting around, not to mention time to find the pictures and write something in the boxes about them etc. Thanks again!

thanks for the encouraging words

I'd like to see certain TOP LISTS be made more visible, and hope these become part of 'exploring' the games section at listal. i have a few select sites that I use for reference and getting more streamlined in how I add new entries.

funny, its not the lists that are most time consuming, its that most of these games aren't even in Listal's database, so I have to add them thru amazon, edit their descriptions, and fill in missing covers. so if anyone wants to help out, the best would be to add as many screenshots and youtube video trailers for any new games I add to the list.

to answer your question, these are north american release dates only (as reported by Gamespot.com). some have been out in Japan for a year already, many adventure games seem to come out in Europe first before NA, but in terms of European release dates, best would be to search for the new game using the AMAZON.COM option, and rename the =us with =uk and hit enter, and the approriate European/PAL version of the game should be added, and hopefully with accurate release date (as taken from amazon.co.uk)

Sounds good to me, cheers for the info! I think perhaps when creating the lists you could save yourself a lot of time by letting people add the pics/ descriptions themselves. I mean some games you are spending your hard earned time on writing and picturing up for others when your never likely to even rate it yourself. It brilliant that you do it, but how likely are you to go near "My Horse and Me" ever again after adding it to the list. You could name it there, and let the horse fans do the rest of the work. This would likely benefit the site as you would probably use the time saved to do something else helpful instead of relaxing haha.

yeah, i know what you mean, but many people on here, especially say the horse loving crowds, would use listal only for tagging and listing, not to properly update each entry.

besides, ironically, i added that 'horse and me' entry specifically because i might want to check it out for my daughter. lol

What are the odds eh? I had a feeling if i picked it, it would turn out you were a keen lover of equines or something haha. Still i see what you mean about them only using it for tagging and listing. If no one else does it though, why should you? It is much appreciated that you do what you do, dont get me wrong, i just want to make sure you dont lose the joy because you wind up working on things you dont have interest in, turning it into a job instead of a hobby.

I don't mind. It's neither a job nor a hobby. more like an addiction for organizing. lol

but yeah, for the most part, I stick to most POPULAR releases, as determined by gamespot. A few rare exceptions I've made (horse, diego, dora) mostly for titles my kids might like.

but no, you wont find ALL releases. believe me, the lists look big, but its probably only 40% of ALL titles being released each month. yes, there is that much crap out there.

big updates across the lists, mostly for long-range upcoming titles....

- STARCRAFT II for PC!!! my heart missed a few beats when I saw that we might have it in 2008

- Alan Wake for PC & X360 (PS3 version got canceled)

- Fallout 3!!! (PC, PS3, X360) my god, 2008 will be a legendary year for releases

- Fable 2 for X360

- Resident Evil 5 (X360, PS3) - early 2009, but still added it to the lists

- Protoype for X360, PS3, PC

- Too Human for X360

- missed the new Warhammer: Soulstorm (amazon had it misspelled) - released on PC March 4th, but added it anyways

- SoulCalibur IV for PS3 and X360

if there's any other MAJOR games coming out in late 2008 or even early 2009, let me know. As long as it has an amazon entry, I'll add it to this list

Another update, mostly long-range upcoming titles (or rumored releases):

Borderlands (PC, PS3, X360)
Left 4 Dead (PC, X360)
Lego Indiana Jones (multi-platform)
Boom Blox (Wii)
de Blob (Wii)
Wii Music Orchestra (Wii)
Final Fantasy Crystal Bearers (Wii)
Star Wars: Force Unleashed (added just Wii, but adding all other versions shortly)
Final Fantasy XIII (PS3)
Brutal Legend (X360, PS3)
Resistance 2 (PS3)
Saboteur (X360, PS3)
SOCOM: Confrontation (PS3)
KillZone 2 (PS3)
Dead Space (X360, PS3)
Infamous (PS3)
Dragon Quest IX (DS)

That should be all the BIG titles, even all the major ones coming out for next christmas, so now the lists will be easier to maintain, only updating dates and smaller releases.

If there's any other major releases coming up in 2008, let me know and I'll add them. cheers

changes:

new games: Bourne Conspiracy (X360 & PS3), Top Spin 3 (multi platform), UEFA Euro 2008 (multi platform), Spectral Force 3 (X360), Hail to Chimp (X360 & PS3), GRID (X360 & PS3), and NASCAR 09 (multi platform)

other big changes:

- Unreal Tourney III for X360 has been delayed, YET AGAIN (about 3rd time since i started this list). Its now set for June 30th.

- new Alone in the Dark as earlier release date, June 3rd (but PS3 version is status unknown, TBA - might be canceled)

- Supreme Commander for X360 delayed to May 19th

- Midgnight Club: LA for X360 & PS3 is coming sooner, on May 28th (old release was August)

- Battlefield: Bad Company now has a proper release date

Also removed releases more than a month old.

In order to keep these lists shorter and more relevant (only show UPCOMING releases and stuff JUST released, I'm making a 2nd list for all the console.

Only have PS3 ready so far:

New & Upcoming PS3 Releases
http://www.listal.com/list/new-ps3-releases-coming

Gamespot Best PS3 Games of 2008
http://www.listal.com/list/gamespot-best-ps3-games-2008

Basically, once a title is released, before I delete it from the list, i check gamespot (same one I use for the new releases lists) and if it gets reviewed at 8.0 or higher, I add it to the 2nd list, Best of 2008.

That way, I can re-use the code (such as the trailer links I'm adding) and copy/paste them quickly into the new list, and keep the 'New Release' lists a lot more up-to-date.

god rid of the PS2 list, the PSP may follow as none of the rest of the 2008 releases look promising.

Ok, Xbox 360, PS3 and PC lists are up to date, with plenty of trailers in the lists. Also they each have 'Best of 2008' series. Basically once a game is released, if its well received by the critics, I move it to the 'Best of 2008' lists.

On PC side, Mass Effect got delayed a month (doh!!), Warhammer Online got pushed from June to 'Q4', and added a few smaller titles. GRID is coming out on PC in June, but I can't find an amazon entry for it (found only Xbox 360 and PS3). I dont want to make a new custom one just yet.

- Far Cry 2 (man, i dont know how i missed this one. its one my MOST WANTED list for 2008)

- Star Wars: Force Unleashed

- C&C Red Alert 3

- Tiberium (from makers of C&C, this is a sci-fi FPS rather than a typical RTS)

PC, Wii, DS and PSP lists will be updated tonight/tomorrow.

Wii list is updated. Spent a lot of time on this update, added over a dozen new entries (most Wii exclusives)

Enjoy :)

thanks. it was a bit to setup all these lists, but maintaining them is much easier than I thought. still, would be nice if Tom could allow some lists to have multiple editors, to help maintain these lists as well as say the IMDB Top250 list.

What say you, Tom? is it an easy addition?

DS fans, you're in for a whopper of a treat in this update:

http://www.listal.com/list/new-ds-releases-coming

Final Fantasy Tactics A2, Final Fantasy IV, Izuma 2, the new Trauma Center, a new Bleach game, and *drum roll* Sonic Chronicles, an RPG developed by Bioware.

Man oh man, the DS's line-up for 2008 is putting the PSP to shame.

PC list now updated. Not many changes, just cleaned it up and changed dates. Amazon doesn't seem to track far-reaching PC exclusive titles (and there's a few awesome titles coming up in summer/fall, but without an Amazon entry, I'd rather not list it just yet)

minor updates across all platforms.

- added Ghostbusters, a multi-platform title coming in Q4 2008
- added Madden NFL 09, coming in August on multi-platforms
- added a few strategy/rts titles to the PC list

and the big update worth shouting about?

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky coming to PC in 2008!

Xbox 360 list updated:

* bad news: Prototype (for all platforms) has dropped to a 2009 release - no chance of seeing this anytime in '08

* new additions: a bunch of new releases added to the list (Baja, TNA Impact, Guilty Gear 2, Smash Court Tennis 3, Tales of Vesperia, Zoids Assault, new version of Lost Planet, and Deadliest Catch) and fixed dates for all releases, accurate up to end of August '08 (after that, in Q3 and Q4, dates can vary greatly so I dont bother updating those)

* good news! Too Human has been pushed ahead, to a mid-august release :)

Other platform updates coming today or tomorrow.

*edit: last minute update - one more new game added - Pure, for X360, PS3 and PC

did another re-update of the X360 list, mostly coz of addition of major new things:

- the new Silent Hill 5, officially called 'Homecoming', has been confirmed to a September 2008 release, but only in Europe

- added Just Cause 2

- added Project Origin, the true sequel to F.E.A.R.

- two more minor adds: the new Viva Pinata, and a new Destroy All Humans

There's also a half dozen other titles i'm watching, set for Q3 or Q4 release, but they dont have an amazon.com entry yet.

and p.s. added the official new Fable II poster :)

New PS3 games is now updated.

* bad news: as with X360, Prototype for PS3 has also been pushed to 2009 release date. Killzone 2, a PS3-exclusive title, has been pushed to Feb 2009 as well.

* good news: the new SOCOM game, the first for the PS3 platform, has been pushed ahead to a mid-September release. Also, Resistance 2 has been confirmed to a November 2008 date (previously, it was just listed as TBA); Silent Hill 5 (aka Homecoming) has also been pushed ahead, to a september release, but only confirmed for European market so far)

* new games on this list: Fatal Intertia EX, Overlord: Raising Hell, Baja, a new Destroy All Humans, TNA Impact, Just Cause 2, Pure, Project Origin, and Valkyira Chronicles.

Just as with the X360 list, I'm keeping a few games bookmarked that should make this list soon, but no Amazon.com entry exists for them yet - namely a new Siren and a new Disgaea game.

I've also updated the Nintendo Wii new releases list.

A few date changes, a bunch of minor games. Only one of importance I guess is the new Harvest Moon Wii game.

And one more for today: New PC Releases.

* new games: Immortals of Terra, Deadliest Catch, City Life 2008, Burnout Paradise, Nancy Drew and Phantom of Venice, King's Bounty, Space Siege, Vampyre Story, Project Origin, and Pure

Won't get to DS updates for a few days, and will probably stop updating PSP release list as its quite dead (both in terms of releases, as well as people viewing that list)

A long-overdue update, for the Xbox 360 only.

Rest of systems coming shortly.

Next update will be septemberish, once all the christmas releases get more specific dates (too many Q3 and Q4 release dates right now).

Major one added are Rock Band 2 and Infinite Undiscovery.

http://www.listal.com/list/new-x360-releases-coming

.. this time addressing all the upcoming TBA releases. I know, i know, i need to tackle the PS3 and PC lists too, its coming this week. (Tom, would be nice to have multiple editors for these lists.. lol)

Anyways, many big releases added as TBA:
- Call of Duty: World at War
- new Prince of Persia
- new Red Faction
- Faith and a .45
- Cipher Complex
- Bayonetta
- Dark Void
- Velvet Assassin
- Mirror's Edge
- Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X.

Let me know if i'm missing any 'officially announced' titles.

Major update to the PS3 list:
http://www.listal.com/list/new-ps3-releases-coming

Tons of new releases, updated release dates, and bunch of trailers added.

p.s. almost 2,200 views and only 4 votes?? seriously?? wtf people.... i know there are many repeat viewings since its a dynamic list, but i doubt the same 4 people viewed this list 500+ times each. almost makes it not worth the effort - adding new entries, hunting down concept art covers, teaser trailers, ever-changing release dates... *sigh*

Finished Updating the PC List:
http://www.listal.com/list/new-pc-releases-coming

Really impressed with whats coming up for PC. I was worried that developers would abandon it in favor for X360 / PS3 only games, but many of the biggest titles have added PC versions to the huge lineup for xmas '08 shopping season.
Saints Row 2, previously a console only game, now has a PC version almost ready to ship, and Dead Space also added a PC version at last minute to their line-up.

Then throw in massive PC-exclusive and PC-first releases such as Starcraft II, Sims 3, Red Alert 3, Diablo 3, WoW Expansion, Sacred 2, Space Siege, another Sims 2 expansion, Civ IV: Colonization, Mount & Blade, Crysis Warhead, STALKER: Clear Sky, and of course, Spore.. and if you dont own a next-gen console yet, you can probably hold off the temptation by keeping your PC up-to-date.

Also, GTA IV for PC has a set release date! Nov. 18th! :)

Starcraft II and Civ IV?! Too bad my PC's old and outdated and most likely couldn't handle games so new.

Nice work Prelude! :)

Thanks for the compliment, g0.

Here's finally an update for the Wii:
http://www.listal.com/list/new-wii-releases-coming

Too many changes to list (at least 30 new entries) but the main ones are Wii Sports Resort, Clone Wars: LightSaber Duel, Rock Band 2, MadWorld (looks f'in unreal!!!), Boogie Superstar, Dokapon Kingdom, all the usual EA Sports releases (but all in All-Play format specifically designed for the Wii), a Wii version of WarioLand, a Wii verison of SimCity, and Super Mario Sluggers (mario-licensed Baseball game). Enjoy!

p.s. forgot 2 more big titles, just added them: Tomb Raider Underworld for Wii, and Animal Crossing: City Life
